Agriculture has fallen as arid lands stretch towards the capital of Nairobi, where water taps have run dry causing increased tensions in the neglected slums. Tourism, the second heart of the Kenyan economy, is in jeopardy. Wild animals are dying of hunger and thirst in the parks, while predators have started getting closer to the villages, killing cattle to get drinkable water from their stomachs.
Aid organizations have been warning of a catastrophe for months. Until now, nothing has happened. The Kenyan government has been unable to take the proper steps to improve the situation - halted by political divisions and corruption - while no real relief operation has yet started.
Droughts in the Horn of Africa: Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea are not unusual. But Kenya is one of the most developed countries of the continent, and a key ally to the West in East Africa. In a time of great debate on climate change, with Kenya on the brink of a disaster, the international community cannot afford to keep it eyes shut.

Finally, the entire team got about 9 hours of sleep!!! Believe me when I say this, everyone was dead asleep by 9:45pm, not even the mariachi ( I think they had to much to drink ) band across the street could keep us up.

All the materials were at both work sites, meaning we started working right away. At first the day started out cloudy, however, early into the afternoon the clouds parted and there were the blue skies :) Everyone worked extremely hard, both teams finished exactly at the same point, which was laying the basic foundation of the roof. The hosting of the church has been more than we could ask for, whenever we ask for anything they are there helping us out with a hand.

So we arrived in San Diego around 11 pm. Plus side of the trip, there were no delays from West Palm Beach to San Diego :)
After our arrival we drove up north to Calvin Christian School. However, thanks to Sprint (!) we got lost for about 15 mins. Basically what happened, Phillip's phone ( remember it's a Sprint cell phone ) died in the middle of traveling to Calvin Christian. After a couple of u-turns and about to break his phone (phillip himself), Phillip's cell phone decided to work and we found our way to the school... finally we could sleep :)

The following day (today), we got up around 6:45am... feeling refreshed to some degree :) After a quick morning session with the Lord, we packed our bags and headed out to our finally destination, Ensenada, Mexico. ( with the Lord in our side, Phillip's sprint cell phone didn't die on us )

Heading to our final destination, we were able to stop by the two houses the team built last year! What an awesome experience to see how the house has blessed these families.

on another note, Voda Films and I did a short commercial for our church called The Journey back in March. i was totally stoked to be assigned to work with my friend Noah ( Voda Films ) and also how Pastor Scott asked us to work together :) it was like a creative high. Anyways, we shot the entire short video with the Canon 5D MK II. Note: at the time, canon did not make the firmware update, which would allow us to control our shutter and f-stops, we had to pre-focus and then re-focus. So, it was a bit challenging to shoot it, but we got some great stuff from the camera. Let me know what you think :) the official version can be found at The Journey.
